Mahdi Jamshid, PhD

Senior Lead – Market Intelligence

Dr. Mahdi Jamshid is the Senior Lead – Market Intelligence for ASTM International. In his previous role, he brought technical expertise to accelerate standardization activities through leading R&D projects, identifying future R&D needs, and formed new collaboration initiatives with technology experts. He has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Material Science and PhD in Mechanical Engineering; with a focus on electron beam melting (EBM) of Ti-6Al-4V. After his PhD, Mahdi joined EWI and completed several government, commercial, and R&D projects. Mahdi led the DMLM team in Columbus, OH before leaving EWI to GE Additive. At GE Additive, he was a Staff Engineer in the Materials Technology team and led the Response Surface activities. Mahdi established multiple partnerships with universities and government agencies for using machine learning and data mining in alloy design, process parameter optimization, and in-situ monitoring. He has co-authored 16 peer reviewed publications and has presented more than 25 lectures at various conferences.
